ALICIA MCCULLOUGH
Associate
I have a Master's degree in Counselling from City University of Seattle, and am a practicing teacher here in Victoria. I have a Bachelor of Science in Biology/Psychology as well as a Bachelor of Education, both from the University of Victoria.
As a counsellor, I am interested in working with school aged children and youth. My approach to counselling is greatly inspired by Carl Roger’s person-centered theory which acknowledges the necessity of a strong therapeutic relationship as well as everyone’s innate ability to heal and meet their potential. I also draw on methods and techniques from cognitive behavioural therapy and solution focused therapy.
My 10 years working as a teacher in both elementary and middle schools informs my practice and I aim to create a safe, interactive space to support exploration and growth.
I am an indisputable nerd with a passion for knowledge, so outside of work and school, I can often be found reading or researching topics of interest. However, I also have a soft spot for fantasy novels, enjoy running and biking as well as camping and spending time with family.
