The choice to reach out was not an easy one for me. I knew enough to know I was struggling and to get better I had to reach outside my comfort zone.
Kate never made me feel like I was outside that comfort zone. With her kind demeanor and ample knowledge she helped empower me with the skills and tools I needed to engage again. To engage with my hobbies and my friends. To engage with life.
I saw Kate to deal with the grief of dealing with a terminally ill family member, through the process of their declining health and passing. This, in combination with symptoms of Generalized Anxiety Disorder, were strongly affecting my daily life and mental health. Kate listened to me and navigated the complicated relationship I had with the passing family member. She taught me a variety of techniques for managing my anxiety and listened to me about what I felt worked and didn't work. Kate has a compassionate heart and is a very good listener. She has the ability to guide a conversation without dominating it or steering it off-course. She is very likable and comforting to be around. She was also eager to really help me and was understanding of my need to make my financial coverage last. Our sessions concluded with me in a much better place and I wholeheartedly recommend her services.
I first met Kate at age 17 for gender dysphoria counselling. I had recently come out as transgender and my mom found her to help myself and my family with transitioning. It has been three years since that first appointment and Kate Steele has helped me with more than gender dysphoria. From general anxiety to heartbreak, sexual identity, and plans from my future; Kate has been an amazing resource for my mental health and wellbeing. She is great at listening when you need to rant, and quick to laugh with you as well.
